Street harassment is unsettling and unfortunately common. There's no single right response, your safety always comes first, and trusting your instincts is more important than any rule.

In the Moment

Draw on Bystanders

If others are around, make eye contact and ask directly for help, "This person is bothering me." Specific requests prompt people to act. Don't hesitate to step into a business and ask staff to call for assistance.

Afterward

Report serious incidents to police, and note the time, location, and description. Talking to someone you trust helps you process the experience, you're not overreacting.
